Gone To Mexico City
Colour, Culture & Community
5 Nights, 6 Days Adventure £2000 £1400 if you book now
This trip is booking fast! Explore Mexico City with international women, hosted by Girl Gone International founder Anne Scott and the local Mexico City GGI team and expert local guides - everything organised, with space to explore at your own pace.
This trip moves between ancient civilisations and modern city life: sunrise balloons over Teotihuacan pyramids, world-class museums, neighbourhood streets, markets, colourful boats on canals, shared meals, and late-night Lucha Libre and culture. Big moments are balanced with free mornings and breathing room, so the experience never feels rushed.
Designed with Mexican women who live and work in the city, this trip avoids mass tourism while keeping the experiences that matter. You’ll travel with trusted local guides, strong attention to safety, and thoughtful planning - cared for, not controlled.
We travel just after Día de Muertos, when the city is still full of colour, flowers, and atmosphere, but without the crowds, chaos or cost. You can still enjoy the spirit of the season, culture and the celebration.

Frequently asked questions
Here are some common questions about our Girl Gone International trip to Mexico!
For more FAQs about travelling with us you can go to our FAQ page.
No. Flights to and from Mexico City are not included, giving you flexibility on where you fly from and whether you extend your trip before or after.
A trip is confirmed when we receive enough bookings (help spread the word about this trip!). As soon as we receive enough bookings we will send an email to tell you the trip is 100% confirmed and then you can book your flights!
Yes. Mexico City is generally safe for women, especially in areas like Polanco, Roma, and Condesa. We work with trusted local partners, focus on safety throughout the trip, and move around the city together for key activities.
That’s completely normal. This trip is designed to remove the stress — you’ll be hosted by experienced local women, with safety, transport, and logistics handled, and you’ll never be expected to figure things out alone.
Yes. Mexico City is one of the most LGBTQI+ friendly cities in Latin America, with a visible queer community, inclusive venues, and strong legal protections. Areas like Polanco, Roma, and Condesa are particularly open and welcoming, and we work with local partners who share these values.
It depends on your passport. Many travellers (including UK, EU, US, Canadian, Australian passport holders) do not need a visa for short tourist stays in Mexico and are granted entry on arrival. We recommend checking the official requirements for your nationality before travelling. Ask us if you need help.
You’ll fly in and out of Mexico City International Airport (MEX), the city’s main international airport. Flights are not included.
Check-in is from 14:00 and check-out is by 12:00.
You’re free to arrive on Tuesday 3 November at any time and depart on Sunday 8 November at any time.
If you arrive earlier or leave later, luggage storage is usually available, and we’ll share practical guidance in advance.
When you land at Mexico City International Airport, you can take an official airport taxi or Uber directly to our apartments in Polanco.
An official airport taxi typically costs MXN 300–450 (about £14–£21 / €16–€25 / $18–$26 USD). Uber is often slightly cheaper, depending on traffic. The journey usually takes 25–45 minutes.
We’ll share clear arrival instructions in advance so it’s straightforward and stress-free.
Daily breakfast is included, plus a welcome dinner. Other meals are flexible - we’ll recommend great local places and eat together where it makes sense, or you’re free to explore independently.
Yes - most women join our trips solo. Rooms are twin-share and thoughtfully matched, and there’s plenty of support before and during the trip.
Single rooms may be available on request, subject to availability and an additional cost. Just ask.
This trip is open to all women and non-binary people. You do not need to be part of a GGI local group. Many participants join solo, and everyone is welcomed with warmth and inclusion.
Most travellers are between 30 and 55, but we welcome adults of all ages. If you are older or younger at heart and open to connection, you’ll fit right in. We really don't care about age - being an international woman has nothing to do with age and everything to do about moving around the world in a meaningful way!
If you have been an active Girl Gone International volunteer for over 6 months hosting and upholding your promise to the community to host free events / create conversation in the community then you are entitled to a thank you trip gift! Just ask Anne!
Yes. Payment plans are available. Just contact us after booking to arrange a schedule that works for you.
Yes. Travel insurance is required. You’ll be asked to confirm your coverage before the trip and sign a waiver upon arrival.
That’s absolutely okay. This trip is gently paced with rest built in. Please let us know anything we should be aware of so we can support you properly.
Many women in our community are neurodivergent. The trip is structured but flexible, with downtime, clear expectations, and the option to step back whenever needed.
Yes. Please let us know your needs in advance and we’ll do our best to accommodate them.
Yes. GGI is an international community and many of us speak English as a second or third language. You will be understood and supported.
There is walking most days, but at a relaxed pace with breaks. Comfortable shoes are recommended. You can always opt out and rest.
Very little day-to-day driving. Most activities are within Mexico City and involve short journeys. The longest drive is to Teotihuacán, which is about 1 hour each way; everything else is much closer and paced to avoid long days in transit.
That’s absolutely fine. You’re still very welcome to come along - you can skip the balloon flight and stay on the ground while the rest of the group flies. Just let us know in advance so we can plan and accommodate you comfortably.
In Mexico City, dress for comfort and layers.
Daytime is generally warm, evenings can be cooler. Comfortable walking shoes are essential. Casual, relaxed clothing is normal - jeans, dresses, skirts, and light tops are all fine. Bring a light jacket or jumper for evenings and early mornings, and sun protection for daytime. No special dress code is needed, except modest clothing for museum visits (which everyday clothes already cover).
In Mexico, the local currency is the Mexican Peso (MXN).
Cards are widely accepted in Mexico City, especially in Polanco, Roma, and Condesa, and Apple Pay works in many places. It’s still a good idea to carry a small amount of cash for taxis, markets, street food, tips, and smaller local spots.
In Mexico City in early November, the weather is generally mild, dry, and very comfortable.
Expect daytime temperatures around 20–24°C (68–75°F), with cooler mornings and evenings around 10–13°C (50–55°F). It’s mostly dry with low humidity, making it one of the best times of year to visit.
Light layers work well — comfortable daytime clothing plus a jumper or light jacket for evenings and early starts.
Yes. Many women choose to explore solo during free time. We’ll share guidance on areas, timings, and transport so you can make informed choices.
That’s respected. You’re always free to step back, skip activities, or spend time alone. This is a supportive group, not a forced social experience.
