Go anywhere, belong everywhere.
Girl Gone International was founded by Anne Scott in Hamburg in 2010 to find friends and feel at home in a new city. Since then, GGI has grown into a global community of international women ages 18-80 who live internationally (immigrants, expats, refugees, digital nomads, travellers, third culture kids..) run by 1000s of volunteers who share a mission to help women feel safe and connected wherever they are, wherever they want to go.

Anne Scott
Founder, CEO
“Girl Gone International began in 2010 when I landed in my 10th city in 10 years - Hamburg. I was lost, lonely, and unsure how to rebuild my life abroad. I hosted one small event to find a friend. That night changed everything.
What started as a search for connection became a global movement. Today, GGI is a not-for-profit community of over 1 million members in 270 cities, hosting 8,000+ free events each year - all built on friendship, belonging, and the power of women supporting each other across borders. We are powered by over 1000 incredible volunteers who co-create GGI communities locally and make new cities feel like home.
Now, with Gone International, we offer unforgettable travel experiences that give back. When you join a retreat, you’re not just taking a beautiful break or having a unique experience - you’re helping fund safe, welcoming spaces for women around the world.”

Veronica May
Bali Retreat | Yoga and Meditation Teacher
Originally from Canada, Veronica has spent the last 8 years building a life in Singapore, where her GGI journey began. Like so many of us, she followed the pull of the unknown, seeking adventure, meaning, and new friendships across borders.
Landing in Asia was exciting but also isolating. It wasn’t until her first GGI brunch that everything shifted. She felt seen, heard, and welcomed and in that moment, something clicked. Four events later, she signed up as a volunteer. Seven years on, she’s still giving back to the community that gave her so much.
Veronica’s greatest love is yoga. From her first class at 16 to becoming a certified instructor in Bali, the practice has grounded her through every transition. Now she shares that gift with others.
“I love helping beginners discover that yoga isn’t about being flexible—it’s about meeting yourself with kindness, breathing through discomfort, and finding peace in the present. I’m so excited to hold space for you on this journey - and help you come home to yourself.”
