Voices from the Trip
What past travellers said! Read more about what travellers said about the last Gone International trip in December 2025 here.
“I didn’t know what to expect and felt nervous about travelling with people I’d never met. What made the difference was how well everything was organised! I could just show up and enjoy it. The local guides were incredible, the group felt warm and supportive, and I never once felt out of place. It completely exceeded my expectations.”
“I’ve always travelled solo and was unsure about joining a group trip. What surprised me most was how easy it all felt - no planning, no stress, just being guided through an experience by people who clearly knew what they were doing. Sharing it with like-minded women turned it into one of the best travel experiences I’ve ever had.”
“I usually have travel anxiety and wasn’t sure group travel was for me. But I felt safe, supported, and genuinely cared for from the start. Being surrounded by women who looked out for each other, with everything thoughtfully planned, helped me relax and enjoy the experience in a way I didn’t think was possible.”

Yes. Morocco is safe for women when travelled thoughtfully and with the right support. This women-only trip is led by trusted local guides, uses private transport, and is carefully paced so you can explore comfortably, confidently, and without navigating things alone.
Morocco is culturally conservative, and LGBTQI+ identities are not openly recognised in the same way as in some countries. On this trip, you’ll be travelling as part of a women-only group with trusted local guides, staying in private accommodation, and moving thoughtfully through each place. Many LGBTQI+ travellers choose trips like this because they feel more comfortable and supported travelling in a group. If you have specific questions or concerns, we’re always happy to talk things through privately before you book.
For most nationalities is not necessary to have a visa (or e-visa).
For some however it is required. You can check whether your nationality is exempt from a visa for Morocco here
Important:
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your arrival date.
You’ll fly into and out of Marrakesh Menara Airport (RAK). This is Marrakech’s main international airport and where the trip begins and ends.
Arrival (Day 1)
Arrivals are flexible. We recommend that you arrive at Marrakesh Menara Airport (RAK) by 4pm so that you can join our first day activities.
This allows time for airport pick ups, hotel check-in, and joining the included welcome ceremony and dinner.
If you arrive earlier in the day, luggage storage is available at the hotel and we’ll help you settle in.
Departure (Final Day)
The trip officially ends after breakfast on the final day, with a group transfer to the airport. If you are staying longer we will have a coffee morning together in a lovely hotel (see the itinerary)
We recommend booking flights departing from mid-morning onwards (from around 10:30am) to allow a relaxed transfer.
Exact timing guidance will be shared closer to departure, so you can book flights with confidence.
Your private transfer to the hotel will be waiting for you. You will receive clear instructions closer to the time. No taxis, no navigating alone - just land and we’ll take care of the rest.
You don’t need to organise anything yourself.
Airport transfers are included.
When you arrive at Marrakesh Menara Airport, our driver will pick you up from the airport and take you by private transfer directly to the hotel.
No taxis, no negotiating, no navigating alone - just land and we’ll take care of the rest.
The same applies on departure day, with a group transfer back to the airport included.
Breakfast is included daily, plus most lunches and all dinners throughout the trip.
Absolutely. Most guests join solo. You’ll be thoughtfully room-matched via our tried and tested questionnaire, and the whole trip is designed to feel safe, supportive, and social without pressure.

Most travellers are between 30 and 55, but we welcome adults of all ages. If you are older or younger at heart and open to connection, you’ll fit right in. We really don't care about age - being an international woman has nothing to do with age and everything to do about moving around the world in a meaningful way!
This trip is open to all women and non-binary people. You do not need to be part of a GGI local group. Many participants join solo, and everyone is welcomed with warmth and inclusion.
If you have been an active Girl Gone International volunteer for over 6 months hosting and upholding your promise to the community to host free events / create conversation in the community then you are entitled to a thank you trip gift! Just ask Anne!

This trip is moderate activity. The most walking is in Petra, with up to 8–10 km (5–6 miles, 12-14k steps) spread across the day on uneven paths, with plenty of stops.
Other days involve light walking, with private transport throughout and the option to sit out activities if needed. Comfortable walking shoes and a reasonable level of fitness are recommended.
This is a road-trip style journey, so there are a few longer driving days as we move from cities to mountains and desert. Drives are broken up with scenic stops, meals, and rest breaks, and you’ll travel comfortably in private, air-conditioned transport.
Each day includes a mix of structured group experiences and free time. You are encouraged to listen to your energy and do what feels right for you. You can join everything or take quiet time when needed.
In short: think comfortable, respectful, and practical. There is no need to cover your hair unless you personally prefer to do so.
In short: cards are common in cities, cash is essential day to day, Apple Pay is a helpful extra — a mix of all three works best for this itinerary.
Late April is warm, dry, and mostly sunny across this itinerary – excellent for cities, mountains, and the desert.
Typical daytime temperatures:
- Marrakech: around 22–27°C during the day, 10–14°C in the evenings
- Atlas Mountains & Dades Valley: cooler than Marrakech, roughly 10–18°C in the day, close to or below 10°C at night
- Merzouga / Sahara Desert: around 25–30°C in the day, 5–10°C at night
You can expect:
- Warm, comfortable days for walking tours and travel days
- Cooler evenings in the mountains and desert – a light sweater or jacket is useful
- Mostly dry conditions, though April can be breezy in the desert and occasionally showery in the mountains
In short: pleasantly warm without peak‑summer heat – ideal for Marrakech, the Atlas, and a night under the stars in the Sahara.
