FAQ Accommodation, Food and Prep

All the Practical Bits to Help You Feel Ready

Accommodation

We choose beautiful, comfortable, and locally-loved places from glamping-style wooden cabins on a remote Scottish island to 4-star hotels in Glasgow or jungle villas in Bali. Each space is picked to feel cozy, safe, and special - never corporate, never soulless.

  • Want your own room? You can upgrade to a private room for an additional cost (subject to availability). Solo spaces sell fast, so book early if this is important to you.
  • Coming solo? We’ll pair you with another lovely GGI traveller. Many of our best travel friendships start this way!
  • Travelling with a friend? Just let us know when you book, and we’ll room you together in a shared twin or double.

Food & Drink

We include a few key meals on every trip such as welcome dinners, cultural food experiences, and breakfast on most days. The rest of the time, you’ll have the freedom to explore local restaurants and markets (and we’ll happily give recommendations).

  • Dietary needs? We’ve got you. Vegan, gluten-free, halal, low-FODMAP, no onion… just tell us in advance and we’ll make it work.
  • Drinks? Alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks are usually not included, unless stated otherwise.
  • Local flavours? Yes please! Think seafood in Oban, vegan brunch in Bali, and fresh pizza under the stars on Iona. Local food is part of the magic - but you’ll always find something to suit your taste.

Packing & Prep

We want you to feel confident, prepared, and excited not overwhelmed. That’s why we send a clear packing guide once you book.

  • What to pack: Comfy clothes, layers, walking shoes, and whatever makes you feel like you.
  • Weather tips: We’ll give realistic weather info - the kind you actually need to know (like if you need waterproof shoes).
  • Special items? If a trip includes swimming, hiking, or anything out of the ordinary, we’ll let you know well in advance.
  • Packing list? Yes! Every confirmed traveller gets a detailed checklist (plus personal tips if you need help narrowing it down).
